Klay are a for piece from the South West that we supported at The Leopard in Doncaster. They consist of the standard guitar band line up and we were left very impressed at the standard of musicianship that this band displayed. The opener on this four track demo is called "Over-Rated" and is a tune that perfectly sets the tone with Blink 182 energy clinically delivered in the pop ethos of the three minute power tune.
Catchy, full of life and immidiately drawing comparison with the glut of American imports that awash this island at the moment. "Intravenous" follows and I'm reminded not to judge a book by it's cover as this instrumental definately cannot be labled under the afore mentioned genre. Haunting single notes are played over a slow hip hop dance groove. It's a nice interlude and goes to show that Klay are inovative as well as talented.
Nice one. "Clarity" is number three and we're in the America/pop/indie style again. Extremely well executed with the only criticism being that the bands live energy is not really coming across due in the main to the clinical mix. Last up is "Downfall" which is a little bit harder than the others that I have heared being a mix of Incubus with the lighter Americana Indie thats been displayed before. This demo ooses quality from the playing to the recording and If you're into the new wave American sound you wont be dissapointed with Klay.
