Put one girl oozing theatre in a studio with guitars, heavy fuzzybasses, computers, keyboards effects, a tonne of software, production equipment and a mic or two and what do you get? You get izzie Voodoo.
Dark electronica pop is what they're tagging it with some industrial stuff thrown in for good measure and so many twists turns and catchy pop hooks you start to get light headed.
Actually, it's award winning stuff that you can't turn off - she writes it, records it, programs it, sings and performs it, and her mixing and production work is second to none.
Live gigs are dry ice laden, kick-ass, electro-pop affairs, delivered by the slender studio girl who exudes martial arts confidence and full contact Kick Boxing prowess, standing unwavering at the front, handing out free black lollipops in her teasing theatrical garb, and smiling wryly at her audience before devouring them alive.
They stand in awe at what has been described as a female Marc Bolan whispering from under the bed'- flanked in the lights by her new line up with Lawrence Mahmood, (affectionately known as 'Lol'); a gym stature T.A. man with a cool, menacing stare and throbbing fretless bass, and Zell, a pretty, dainty, quietly spoken Goth girl triggering synths and delivering perfect chorus to izzie’s vocal.
By the age of 13, izzie had spent 10 years reaching teaching levels in various forms of dance, had clocked up serious amounts of stage performance experience and learned to read music proficiently. After some time she had her own
art/props/band merchandise business under her belt while gaining backstage, lighting, live sound and sound mixing engineering training and teaching herself bass guitar and electric guitar. Soon her love of music took over and she gave up art to teach herself extensive computer skills, deciding to concentrate on song writing and perfecting her music production.
In 2007, izzie Voodoo was named finalist in Song Of The Year for her song ‘Sound’ (featured on ‘The Push’), picked by some of the biggest names in music including Grammy Award winners and on Halloween 2007, izzie excitedly announced her signing to Northampton based label, Basilica Music Ltd.
izzie is currently working with Basilica Music Ltd (UK), Rox Entertainment Agents (USA) and Manilla PR to promote her new album.
